Why is my 97 plymouth neon burning oil, and how much could it cost to fix it?

You sure it's burning oil?

The 420a motor is well known for it's head gasket leak caused by the poorly designed head gasket.

Check for leaking on the drivers side towards the firewall.

You will also have oil dripping on the exhaust under the car making smoke and burnt oil smell. This may lead you to believe you are burning oil. The tail pipe will be coated with soot from burning oil if the rings are bad.Why is my 97 plymouth neon burning oil, and how much could it cost to fix it?
pull the valve pan off and see if the drain holes are plugged, if theres alot of oil laying under the pan, take something like a coat hanger and run down through the drain holes. also it might be valve seals. Why is my 97 plymouth neon burning oil, and how much could it cost to fix it?
you have choice rebuilt the motor or replaces it are rebuilt the engines cost about 1.200$ to2.000$ a replaces engine cost about 600 to800 but all way shop around for the best deal and it check by Ase shop mechanics
how many miles on it.. try a oil additive to see if it slows down. probably wore out. sell or trade it off.
