Can I use regular kitchen oil to FIX a squeaky door?

Yes, but it will attract things that want to eat it. Roaches, mice etc.

3%26amp;1 oil, WD, even a bit off the dip-stick of your vehicle would be better choices. Can I use regular kitchen oil to FIX a squeaky door?
Jackie,

Instead of using kitchen oil, you can get a small cannister of 'WD 40' from a DIY shop for about 拢1 at most. This will last you a lifetime in fixing squeaky doors and and any squeaky hinges in your home (windows, cupboards, etc...). kitchen oil will only make things greasy and very messy to clean and am not sure is thin enough to actually penetrate the hinges, as it would need to get in between the hinges, and is too thick I believe.

Hope that helps

Jonie is correct, graphite is a dry lubricant for use where liquid is impractical such as squeaky drawers and padlocks. You may also shave graphite of the core of a graphite (lead) pencil that works just as well.
WD40 IS NOT a lubricant! WD stands for WATER DISPLACEMENT it will in time dry and leave no residue. 3 in 1 or dry graphite will serve you far better. From the hardware and even in most grocery stores.Food oil will attract bugs and is in fact food for them.
Yes you can, but only as a temporary fix. Veggie oil will thicken and gum up. Will work as a temporary solution. Buy a can of WD40 or a graphite pen to lubricate the squeak.
I wouldn't use WD-40. I'd use a silicon based spray. It lasts much longer and won't congeal.
Spray some furniture polish on it.

It works just the same as oil.
no it will congeel and make things worse
