The oil is drying up fast, we are now in recession due to high energy prices. How do we fix it ?

Read about ';Peak Oil'; . Tons of doom and gloom. Why arent our leaders trying to fix it ?The oil is drying up fast, we are now in recession due to high energy prices. How do we fix it ?
WE begin by depending less on the oil and switching to nuclear energy. The oil is drying up fast, we are now in recession due to high energy prices. How do we fix it ?
Their to busy counting all the money they make......
Corporations have had 7 years to fix it without government intervention.

That didn't work.

Time for the people, through their elected representatives, to force the issue.
There's plenty of oil, that's not the problem. There are two main factors influencing unacceptably high gas prices:

1) Lack of refining capacity. The US needs to build more refineries to increase the ready supply of finished petroleum products.

2) Under-exploitation of domestic resources. There is a large amount of oil and other fossil fuels that remains untapped. We don't want to use up our reserves, but all our oil should be on line and ready to flow. This way, if OPEC and Russia get stingy with oil (like they have been for ten years), we can turn on our own taps to flood the market and send oil prices into the basement. The threat of creating a glut should be enough to keep foreign oil producers in line, but this threat is not credible when the idiots in congress bind our hands and keep us from having a rational energy policy.

As to why congress isn't fixing it? The kindest explanation is that the leaders of congress are in fact, stupid. Other explanations involve the blackest kind of disloyalty and venality.
Electric Cars are in the works. The biggest problem is the batteries. They think they have solved the problem and in a couple of years electrics will become a reality.
Well, George W Bush is not smart enough to realize that there is an oil crisis he's to busy spending billions of dollars on the war. we could use wind and solar power. also we could run our cars on water, or electricity or something. even though electric cars wont have as much horsepower we could find a way. hopefully Barack Obama will get us into the right lane. lol.
reduce consumption gradually

very high tax on private transportation

to find alternative energy.

solar, wind, thermal, nuclear and many more.

instead of paying in Gold for black gold - invest on alternative energy.
we get the stinking whining green loving liberal commies to let us drill for our own oil.
fix it by regulating the trading going on at the NY Mercantile exchange. The speculators are rampant, wait until they do this with water next.
Start a war with South america and take all their reserves. Nuke the middle east and then claim all that too
I'm surprised, no one has said, well technically we aren't in a recession yet because we haven't had two quaters of negative GDP.

Alright people, you're finally startin to get it. I'm proud of ya.
Why? Well its because the oil companies load our leaders pockets full of money to keep them from doing anything about it. Why is none of the presidential candidates talking about the gas prices??? Because there is sooooo much money in oil. We are smart enough as humans to find another way no doubt but until someone turns down the oil typhoons then we are all doomed to this greed and power.

Why can't we tap into our oil in the US for even one year? That would drop prices. We have plenty of oil in the ground here. We need an American to step up %26amp; be trueful for the people because the people is America!
