How do i fix a lawn mower that i forgot to put oil in.?

ok i didn't know that lawn mowers took oil. now i can't get the thing to start, i found the oil thing and put oil in it. so what do i do with it now? how do i fix it?How do i fix a lawn mower that i forgot to put oil in.?
Turn it upside sown and try to turn the blade. If it will turn, the motor has not seized. Did it make a bad noise before it stopped working? If it did, you likely threw the rod and it will not work. Some mowers will shut down by themselves if they are low on oil before any damage is done. Once somebody gave me a mower that she said would not work. I took it home and took out the spark plug to check it. Oil began to run out of the hole. The entire engine was full of oil. That is why it would not run. Make sure that you have the oil to the correct level. Not too much, not too little.

You may be able to fix it.

I had a truck once. The oil plug fell out and I drove it without oil. The engine seized. I filled the case with ';marvel Mystery oil'; I let it set for a day, then began to turn the motor with a gigantic wrench. It broke free. I gave it a few more rotations and charged the battery. After that it started right up. I changed the oil and it has been running well ever since. How do i fix a lawn mower that i forgot to put oil in.?
Remove the spark plug %26amp; put some oil the cylinder..crank it quite a few times..Put the plug back in %26amp; try to start it..You may have to take the plug out %26amp; clean it. Put a couple of tablespoons of gas in the cylinder, replace the spark plug %26amp; it may start. If the cylinder is stuck, %26amp; you can't crank it..Put some 20-40 in the cylinder..stand it on the side so the cylinder is up..let it sit for a day or two, %26amp; then try to crank it over using the blade (spark Plug removed of course)
I do not think it is shot.

If nothing broke and it only seized up like the other poster's truck it only needs to be freed if it can be.

You probably took a couple of years off the lifespan with wear. That is not a big deal.

It probably glazed the cyclinders and it may not run as well at first but the rings will wear back in.

But if you didn't know you needed oil I have no doubt you need somebody more handy to get it going again.
As everybody else has said, it is now a dead mower. You either have to get a new engine or a new mower. When you replace it though, consider buying an electric one if it's suitable for the area you're cutting. They are usually alot less hassle to look after.
The engine will need to be re-built or replaced. Depending on how expensive and how new your mower is you might be better off replacing the whole mower. Look in the phone book for ';Small Engine Repair'; if you want to have it repaired.

Bert
As others have said, you may be able to save it.

BUT..

The damage has been done already, and I wouldn't count this as a dependable mower anymore IF you get it freed. I suggest getting a new one if the price is negligible.
Tie a rope to it and use it as an anchor the next time you go fishing on your boat.

Don't forget to check the oil in the boat motor! sorry . . . . I couldn't resist it.
You can't fix it. The thing is shot. You'll have to buy another one.
Like the others said, it's done. You're going to need a new lawnmower, or replace the engine on that one.
You've blown it mate, the lawnmowers gone forever.

You shouldn't have forgotten.
