What should i use (hairspray?) to fix oil pastels?

i have recently begun working with oil pastels and blending them with turpenoid (a turpentine substitute). does anyone know what i should use to fix them in place so that they don't smudge?

is there a certain spray that i can buy at an art store? or is there a certain kind/brand of hairspray that works best? or maybe something else altogether...

thanks! What should i use (hairspray?) to fix oil pastels?
With my limited skill in that area, I have found that letting your work cure in a horizontal position, away from dust, humidity and drastic temperature changes, works fine. I would let the work fully cure before attempting any kind of sealant. What should i use (hairspray?) to fix oil pastels?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Use workable fixative. Not expensive. Don't spray too close or it will darken the drawing. Do a couple of coats from maybe two feet away.

go here and check out the other types of products they have. similar products can be found at a local art supply store.
Any good art store will sell fixative, which is specifically made for this purpose. Look for one which is labeled ';archival'; and ';non-yellowing.'; Hopefully, the staff will be able to answer your questions about the product. Don't use hairspray if you want your artwork to last.

Good luck with your artwork!
dont use hairspray!!!!!!!!!! hair spray is best for powdery medium,.....there must be something at an art store but don not use hairpray...buy a fixative
