Can you fix an engine if it ran about a mile without any oil?

I recently got in a car accident and I gouged a hole in the oil filter and all the oil leaked out but the next day my mother ran a few chores and it started dying and eventually I changed the oil and oil filter but there is this clicking noise that wont stop. Before the wreck I changed the oil and I used that Lucas oil thickener ,Do you think that saved the engine a little?Can you fix an engine if it ran about a mile without any oil?
I knocked a hole in my oil pan and drove 20 miles. I just replaced the pan and was fine. You must determine if the sound is coming from the top or bottom. Top means valves or lifters, Bottom most likely crank bearings (worst case ).

I would suggest getting a breakdown of your engine, and trying to determine from there, what damage was done. You didn't tell us what type of car or engine.

Good LuckCan you fix an engine if it ran about a mile without any oil?
I thought that it might be fixable... until you mentioned the clicking. I don't know if your additive saved your engine, but you should have the clicking examined while the problem is small. If a part breaks completely inside, the engine will be complete garbage.
The thicker the oil, the quiter it should get.... Might have spun a bearing or two, But of course it could just be lifter tapping.
If that word ';eventually'; means only one mile of driving without oil, there's hope. If the ';clicking'; is coming from the top of the engine and is not a heavy sound, it's worth a try to put some Bardahl in with the oil and run it a few miles. It could be a stuck valve lifter and the Bardahl might free it up.
It may have helped it some as that stuff will stick pretty good to engine parts. That clicking you're hearing may be your valves. Will it stop even with a little bit more Lucas in there? It sounds like there's been some damage, and if the noise is coming from the top of the engine, your valves may have seen a little too much metal to metal contact. Get it checked out, but be prepared for the worst. Sorry man.
Miami;

sounds like a valve is stuck, and the rocker is ';tapping'; the push-rod. But, in worst case senario, this ';clicking';, could be from a spun bearing. In either case, if your not familiar to the internals of an engine, definitely take it to a shop you trust, as this type of engine repair can be rather expensive.
Good Question!
