How do I fix an oil pan plug leak it might be stripped?

You have several options depending on the severity of the damage, and the make/model of the car's engine.

1) Secure an over-sized plug. They cost about $2.00 to $10.00, depending on the brand and design.

2) Repair the threads in the pan with something akin to a Heli-Coil insert.

3) Secure a rubber type plug for the car. Usually cost about $5.00, and usually do a decent job.

4) Remove the pan, and replace/repair the plug hole billet.

Usually, the easiest and simplest repair is the over-sized plug with a NEW gasket. Then be very careful that you don't strip the hole again. How do I fix an oil pan plug leak it might be stripped?
go to your local parts dealer, they have self tapping drain plugs just for thatHow do I fix an oil pan plug leak it might be stripped?
First of all remove the plug. Newer vehicles use a soft plug and a hardened insert in the oil pan. Thus the threads may come off the plug, but won't likely strip the threads in the pan. If the plug doesn't want to come out, large vise-grips and a prybar while turning the plug will usually do the trick. Then look closely at the threads in the pan. If they are ok, new plug and gasket will fix it. Don't forget to put oil back in the engine.

Hope this helped.....
If the drain plug is the only thing damaged and leaking ten all you need to do is head to you local autoparts store ( NAPA, Autozone, Advance Auto) and get a new one. Your local dealership is also an option. Which every route you choose make sure you pick up the drain plug GASKET that goes with the plug. It is also in your best interest to purchase a 1-50 lb torque wrench. The most common way drain plugs get stripped is from over-tightening. Every manufacturer has a different recommended torque for their plugs.
you can buy those drain plugs that are self tapping,i got 1 of them, they cut their own threads.
