My car is dripping oil: How much does it cost to fix?

It depends on where the oil is leaking from. If the oil is leaking from the filter, then just changing the oil (and filter) would fix that problem. If the drain plug is not tightened then the fix is the same (oil change). If the problem is the oil pan, then you would need a new gasket (still cheap).

Try to find the source of the leak. You can power wash your engine compartment (plastic cover all your electric connection and use a power washer). Then you would be better able to see where the oil is leaking from.

Good Luck.My car is dripping oil: How much does it cost to fix?
It depends on where the leaking is coming from. If it's coming from the drain plug or oil filter, a simple tightening (which you can do it yourself) will do the trick. If it's coming from the head cover, a simple examination of the head cover gasket for cracks(s) and replacing it with a new one will do the trick. If it has no crack, a little tightening and putting it in proper place will solve the problem too. This operation can also be easily done by you. However, if the leak is caused by a crack in the oil pan gasket or cracked gasket from any attached part on the engine block, then a professional help may be in order. My car is dripping oil: How much does it cost to fix?
What kind of car? Most engines tend to leak at the following areas, Valve covers (85% of the time this is where the leaks start), front main seal, Rear main seal, Oil filter, oil drain plug, oil pan Gasket, head gaskests, timing covers, PCV gromits, Dip stick tube gaskets. If this leak started shortly after the oil was changed take it back to the shop who change it and have them double check everything. Sometimes they will not get the oil cleaned up on the frame and you have drips for about 2 days.
all oil leaks cost exactly the same amount to fix, whether it be tightening the oil filter or replacing the engine. the amount, however, is a secret.
You haven't said where the keak is coming from. i.e. oil filter, engine, or oil sump, if it's the oil sump it is likely it will just need a new gasket or sump tightening. the same would apply to the oil filter, if it's the engine, it could be something simple as tightening a few bolts or a crankshaft seal needs replacing. First, define where the leak is and go from there. good luck.
It all depends on where the leak is located. It could cost as little as 30.00 or as much as 1500.00 or higher. High end cars cost more to fix than regular beaters.
It all depends on the type of vehicle you have, the parts that you may need, the mechanic you may choose and of course, it is worse repairing if it is too bad of a spill?
